Head Teacher, Eugene Bush
Fugan Eugene Bush began formal practice in 1982 and received Dharma transmission from Katherine Thanas in the lineage of Suzuki Roshi in 2010. Gene became a visiting teacher at the Arcata Zen Group in 2013 and currently serves as Head Teacher. He continues to welcome and encourage Arcata Zen Group's ongoing relationships with former visiting and guiding teachers. Gene also serves as one of the Practice Leaders of Santa Cruz Zen Center with occasional forays to Hartford Street Zen Center and to Queer Dharma at San Francisco Zen Center. He teaches the traditional practice of sewing Buddha’s Robe. He is retired from his paid work after 37 years as a public school teacher in the Santa Cruz area. Alan Senauke
Hozan Alan Senauke is a Soto Zen priest at the forefront of socially engaged Buddhism. He served on the Buddhist Peace Fellowship and as president of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association. He is currently Abbot of Berkeley Zen Center. He is founding director of Clear View Project, focusing on social change in India, Burma, and the United States. He has lived with his wife, Laurie, at Berkeley Zen Center since 1985. He is a writer and editor, a social justice activist and a respected folk musician.

Mary Mocine
Mary Mocine is a Soto Zen priest and founder of Clear Water Zendo, where she has served as Abbess since 2008. She was a practicing attorney. She was ordained by Sojun Mel Weitsman. She has been a member of the senior staff at all three San Francisco Zen Center practice places. Mary participated in the formal training program of the Zen Hospice Project. She studied with Yvonne Rand, Norman Fischer, Blanche Hartman and Reb Anderson. She received Dharma Transmission from Mel Weitsman in 2005.

Mark Lancaster
Mark Lancaster has been practicing Soto Zen Meditation formally since 1988. He is an ordained Soto Zen priest, registered with the Soto Zen Buddhist Association. He received Dharma Transmission from Dairyu Michael Wenger at San Francisco Zen Center in 2006. Mark's teaching focuses on the intersection of spiritual practice and daily life.

Angie Boissevain
Zuiko Enji, Angie Boissevain is a disciple of Kobun Chino Otogawa Roshi and completed Dharma Transmission with Jakko Eso, Vanja Palmers Roshi. Angie was active as a Zen teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area for thirty years. She co-founded Jikoji in the Santa Cruz Mountains. She led retreats at Arcata Zen Group several times a year for many years. Angie also led retreats in other parts of the US and in Europe. She continues teaching at Floating Zendo, a sitting group in San Jose, CA where she lives. She has three sons and is a published poet.
