Volunteer Opportunity: Zazenkai Coordinator 07/31 - 08/01
We are seeking a volunteer to serve as Zazenkai Coordinator for an upcoming day-sit that will take place July 31-August 1st.
The Zazenkai Coordinator plays an important role in supporting our sangha’s practice by helping organize and facilitate the smooth functioning of our day-long retreat. The coordinator serves as the primary point of contact before and during the day-long sit, working closely with the Teacher, Ino, Tenzo, Work Leader, and other volunteers as needed.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinating registration and participant communications.
Ensuring schedules, announcements, and practice information are distributed in advance.
Supporting the organization of oryoki meals when applicable.
Coordinating volunteer roles such as Tenzo, servers, work leaders, and walk leaders.
Helping prepare common areas before the sit.
Maintaining the form of sesshin and supporting an atmosphere of silence and practice.
Assisting with post-sit wrap-up and communication.
This role does not require doing everything yourself! Many tasks are shared with experienced practice leaders and volunteers. Detailed written guidelines and support are available.
Serving as a Zazenkai Coordinator is a meaningful opportunity to deepen your practice through service and to help create the conditions that support the practice of others.
If you are interested in learning more or volunteering for an upcoming sesshin or zazenkai, please contact Program Coordinator Kim Deckman directly via info@arcatazengroup.org
