Upcoming Practice Opportunity - Honoring the Ceremony of Sejiki
Mark your calendars for Nov 2, during our usual Sunday program:
Sejiki, also known as the Ceremony for the Hungry Ghosts , is a traditional Japanese Zen Buddhist ceremony focused on honoring ancestors and the spirit world. It's a way to acknowledge and make peace with regrets or unresolved aspects of the past, both within ourselves and in the broader world. It is also a time for meeting our own habits and hindrances which we tend to maintain and embrace. Sejiki means “food offering.” The “Se” is an offering or charitable deed, and the “jiki” is food. The ceremony involves making offerings of food and chanting to nourish these spirits and liberate them from their constrained state.
A small group will practice in order to be able to provide this ceremony on October 5 in the late afternoon. Please let Gene know if you would like to have a role.
