Spring Class Series - An Introduction to Precepts

Registration is now open for our spring class series on the Diamond Sutra as an introduction to precepts.

The Diamond Sutra is considered a historically important text in Mahayana Buddhism and is wonderful to read aloud in a group setting. This sutra, also known as Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā Sutrā, is a Buddhist teaching that offers insight into the nature of reality and the path to living a wholesome life. It is a dialogue between the Buddha and his disciple, Subhuti, in the presence of the disciples at that time.

Our focus in this series is to investigate the ways in which this brilliant and influential teaching is gently elucidating the core precepts of our tradition.

Classes will meet March 9, March 30, April 6, and April 27, 1:30-3pm. Expect to have reading and assignments between classes.

The required text is The Diamond Sutra: The Perfection of Wisdom, Text and Commentaries translated from Sanskrit and Chinese by Red Pine, 2001, Counterpoint Perseus Book Group.

A paperback copy will be on reserve in the AZG library for your use. If you are interested in a bulk order of Red Pine's book, please register by February 14 so Elvira can place the order with enough lead time.

Please register online here.
