Sangha Week at Green Gulch 2026

October 21-25. Space is limited. Contact Beverly with questions or to reserve your spot.

Arcata Zen Group is being welcomed as a Sangha affiliated with the Branching Streams of Suzuki Roshi to spend these special days at Green Gulch Farm Zen Center. For four nights, October 21-25, we will follow the daily schedule, participating in sangha life alongside Green Gulch students. Participants attend morning and evening meditation, eat meals with the students, and work 3½ hours daily; afternoons and evenings include free time and Dharma study.

From the GGF website: “Green Gulch Farm Zen Center, also known as Green Dragon Temple (Soryu-ji), is a Buddhist practice center in the Japanese Soto Zen tradition offering training in Zen meditation and ordinary work. It is one of three centers that make up San Francisco Zen Center, which was founded by Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. Our effort at Green Gulch is to awaken in ourselves and the many people who come here the bodhisattva spirit, the spirit of kindness and realistic helpfulness. This is how we offer our understanding of Buddha’s Way. Green Gulch Farm is located in Marin County, just north of San Francisco, in a valley that opens out onto the Pacific Ocean. In addition to the temple program of zen and study, it includes an organic farm and garden, as well as a guest house and conference center.”

This is a unique opportunity for the AZG Sangha to physically experience our connection with the broader Soto Zen community in California and it is a chance for the residents and leaders at GGF to witness the stable and steadfast practice of our small and remote sangha.

Cost is $140 per person per night ($115 per person per night for those sharing a room). Scholarship funds may be available.

Space is limited. Contact Beverly with questions or to reserve your spot.
