We set aside this time to dip the ladle a little deeper into the river of zazen – Friday November 6 from 5:45pm through 8:30pm and Saturday November 7 from 7:30am through 4pm.

The fee is $40 or what you can comfortably afford to pay. A formal oryoki vegan lunch will be served. If opting out of oryoki lunch, the fee is $30 or what you can comfortably afford to pay; please bring a bag lunch and plan to stay on the premises. The deadline to sign up for oryoki lunch is Wednesday October 28. There is no fee if attending Friday evening only.

There is no fee for Cal Poly Humboldt students. Cal Poly Humboldt students are requested to bring a bag lunch, and are welcome to observe oryoki if they are interested.

For at least two decades, every autumn AZG has offered a program for Religious Studies students at Cal Poly Humboldt. This year that group of students will be spending much of October establishing their own routine with meditation and study. Our November 6 & 7 zazenkai is a time when the students will be experiencing multiple zazen periods for the first time.

Gene would like to highlight that this zazenkai is an opportunity for AZG to offer the gift of stable practice to the next generation. Gene requests of the AZG community that all who are able to be present in the zendo with us on the Friday evening and Saturday morning register through the link below to let Kim, our zazenkai coordinator, know. Your presence is the gift.

Please contact our Ino, Beverly, directly or email AZG if you would like to fill a support role during zazenkai. Specifically, we are in need of people who can ring the bells or lead a short hike.
